Rock the Riles
POSTED AT 06:13 AM

Since 2005, Rock Ed Philippines has been ending its work-year with a mammoth celebration of Human Rights.  We hold eight (8) simultaneous events in eight  (8) train stations of the MRT line along historic EDSA.  ROCK THE RILES is held every Sunday closest to International Human Rights Day.  (Intl HR Day is celebrated every Dec 10)

Despite having no commercial funding this year, we all decided to push through with it anyway.  Everyone involved in 'Rock the Riles 2008' pitched in to make it possible.  Shelled out cash, lent some equipment, lent expertise, talent and time.

So we can squarely say: This one's ours.

This gathering is our rally of sorts, that one time we decide to physically come together and say the same thing at the same time. That one time we decide to pool our voices and say "No more excuses, Philippines."

Next Sunday, take the train. Choose a station. Watch a gig. Take a stand. Rock and roll.

Save the date:  7th of Dec, 2008. 2-7pm at any MRT station nearest you.

Chris Brown & Rihanna in Manila
POSTED AT 07:14 PM in Soundtrack, What? When? Where?, Coffee and Beer

"I gotta get my body moving shake the stress away..." ~ Rihanna, Please Don't Stop the Music

Aysman and I watched Chris Brown and Rihanna perform last November 16 at the Fort Bonifacio Open Field.

Good Things:

1. Early Bird Promo. Since maaga kami bumili ng tickets, naka-avail kami ng Early Bird promo. The tickets that were sold for P3500 starting November 1, we bought for only P1500 each back in October.

2. Getting There. Di kami nahirapan pumunta sa concert venue this time, unlike nung nanood kami ng concert ni Beyonce, di kami makakuha ng cab. Aysman and I decided to meet up near my place and easily got a cab, so off to the venue we went. Mabait din si manong driver. Walang angal at di humihingi ng dagdag.

3. Entrance.

4. Happy Feet. I learned from my mistake and wore slippers to the concert. So my feet although tired were still in pretty good shape until the end of the show.

5. Instinct. I felt that it would not be a good idea to bring a big bag and boy was I right.

6. Abaniko. I brought my good old reliable abaniko (thanks to Kulotlot) and fan myself and Aysman throughout the event.

8. Chris Brown. Killer moves, good songs and great abs! What else can you ask for? Hahaha.

9. Rihanna. I like her songs, but I was not really fascinated with her. I have to say though that seeing her perform live made me appreciate her more as an artist. Performance level talaga. And I enjoyed every number.

10. Video Wall. Laking tulong talaga.

11. Aysman. Ang pogi ng date ko. Period.

Not So Good Things:

1. 70,0000. I felt a little agoraphobic because there were really a lot of people. Sabi sa news, there were about 70,000 people who attended the event. I read somewhere that some of the Gold ticket holders were only able to enter the concert venue almost halfway through Chris's Brown's performance. Dahil lampa ako, I'm sure wala akong laban. Buti na lang walang jologs sa paligid that time.

2. The Heat.

4. The Thirst. I was so thirsty after the concert but I had to settle with a can of warm soda since there were long lines of people trying to buy a drink. Take note, warm soda. Warm.

5. Souvenir. Dahil wala kaming digicam, eto ang nag-iisang picture namin ni Aysman during the concert. Di pa mukhang nasa concert nga kami.

6. Going Home. Hassle pauwi. Di kami sanay gumala sa The Fort so di namin alam ang pasikot-sikot.

Hehehe. Kaya ayun, HHWW kami from The Fort to EDSA Ayala. So all in all, considering all the aspects of the event and the experience, I have to say that I had a really great time. Sulit.
